Excessive pressure on your jaw can cause a sore tooth. Grinding your teeth and clenching can also crate a lot of pain.  A more common cause of a sore tooth is an infection from the food that gets stuck on the gums or in between teeth.  These decaying particles affect the tooth’s pulp leading to infection. When infection enters the gum area, pain is most likely to be extreme.

Aside from infections the following are the common factors that can cause a sore tooth:

Canker sores. This is a symptom that causes sensitive teeth or gums.  In this case, hot or cold foods and drinks can cause the irritation. In this instance, you need to gargle with a mouth rinse daily to remove particles in your mouth that cause the irritation.

Gum problems can be an indication of a sore tooth problem. The gums are delicate, and bacteria or pressure on the gums can cause the gums to bleed. The main problem is bacteria build up. This bacterium invades and damages the soft tissue of the gums, which causes swelling and possible abscesses.

In case of swelling, the most advised remedy is to use salt water gargle therapy. Simply dilute 2 teaspoon full of salt in a glass of warm water, mix it well and force the water to glide through the sore tooth. The salt gargle mixture will help reduce the swelling and help with the pain. Salt kills bacteria, so the soreness will eventually alleviate the pain caused by swelling.

You can also add a few drops of minty mouth rinse in your recipe for salt water gargle sore tooth solution. This will effectively kill most of the bacteria on contact.

The best cure for a sore tooth is to maintain good dental hygiene. Brushing after every meal is a must (no excuses) and a daily gargle of mouthwash will help a lot in killing germs and reducing the chances of having teeth problems.

Dental check ups should be routine and performed on a regular basis. Having a healthy set of teeth is a must. Make it a point that you visit your dentist at least twice a year.
